List of nodes

The barrel strike is used to lift barrels and other cylindrical containers. It is a nautical utility knot. In principle, this corresponds to the overhand knot in which the container is placed in the middle. The free end is attached to the hanging rope with a bowline , for example . When put under tension, the knot tightens and centers the container securely in the middle without it sliding downwards.

This is how it is laid
(Right) Alternative: Lift the lying barrel with a round sling

Alternative execution

An eye is placed with the strop and the barrel is placed on the crossing point. The large bay is folded over the barrel and pulled through the small bay from below. Then it is pulled over the barrel. The bay pulled over the barrel is pulled through on both sides under the existing sling, folded and hung on the hook .
