Fatima Ferreira

Fátima Ferreira-Briza (born February 16, 1959 in Cachoeira de Goiás , Brazil ) is an allergist and has been the head of the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Allergy Diagnosis and Therapy at the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Salzburg since 2006 .

After successfully completing her degree in dentistry at the Uberlândia Federal University in Brazil in 1981 , she studied at the University of São Paulo , Brazil, and received her PhD in biochemistry in 1987. She then worked as a research assistant at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Santa Catarina , Brazil, before going to Canada as a post-doctoral student in 1988 at the University of Toronto with Prof. Anders Bennick. In 1990 he moved to Vienna to the Institute for Pathophysiology at the Medical University of Vienna . In 2000 she moved to the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Salzburg , where she completed her habilitation in the same year and has been a scientist ever since.

To date, she has published over 120 scientific papers in the field of allergology and immunology . These included pioneering work on tree and herb pollen allergies as well as work on the characterization and standardization of recombinantly produced allergens and allergen preparations. She has also worked on more than 20 specialist books.
