Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet
Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet (born March 20, 1982 in Tekirdağ ) is a Turkish politician of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and mayor of İzmit since 2019 .
Life
Hürriyet studied law at the Kocaeli Üniversitesi and graduated in 2004. In the parliamentary elections in June 2015 and the re-election in November 2015 , she was a deputy for Kocaeli into Parliament elected. Before the 2018 parliamentary elections , she was one of 15 CHP MPs who briefly moved to the İyi Parti to give the party parliamentary group status and thus secure their participation in the elections. In the local elections on March 31, 2019 , she ran as a CHP candidate for the office of mayor of İzmit and won with almost 50 percent of the vote. So she could succeed Nevzat Doğan .
She is married and has one child.
