Fawad Chaudhry

Fawad Ahmed Chaudhry , also known under the name Fawad Hussain Chaudhry (born in the 20th century ) is a Pakistani politician who has been Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting since August 20, 2018. Fawad Chaudhry has been a member of the National Assembly since August 2018 . Chaudhry is currently the spokesman for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf . From April 2012 to March 2013 he was an advisor in the governments of Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf .

Life

Fawad Chaudhry was born into a Jat family of the Vain clan. Chaudhry studied law in Lahore and worked as a lawyer. He often appears on talk shows. In the parliamentary elections, Chaudhry ran for a direct mandate in his constituency, Jhelum, without party affiliation. He received only 161 votes and lost the direct mandate to Chaudhry Tasneem Nasir, a PML-Q candidate who received 38,626 votes. Fawad Chaudhry resigned as media coordinator for the All Pakistan Muslim League in January 2012. Chaudhry left the AML in March 2012 and joined the PPP . Fawad Chaudhry was appointed broadcast and political advisor to the government of Yousaf Raza Gilani in April 2012. He held the position of Minister of State. He worked as a consultant until the government of Gilani was dissolved. Fawad Chaudhry was re-employed in the same position in the subsequent government of Raja Pervez Ashraf. He worked as a consultant until March 2013. Fawad Chaudhry ran for a direct seat in the 2013 parliamentary elections in Pakistan . He failed to secure one as he was defeated by PML-Q candidate Malik Iqbal Mehdi Khan. Chaudhry received a total of 34,072 votes. He also ran for a direct mandate for the provincial government of Punjab , but lost to Raja Muhammad Awais Khan. Fawad Chaudhry received only 82 votes. Fawad Chaudhry announced his entry into Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in June 2016. He ran for a seat in parliament in his constituency, but lost to Raja Muhammad Awais Khan in August 2016. Fawad Chaudhry became spokesman for the PTI in November 2016 and held the post of secretary in the PTI's broadcasting office. In the parliamentary elections in Pakistan in 2018 , Fawad Chaudhry ran for a seat in parliament in his constituency. However, the candidacy was rejected by the Lahore High Court for failure to pay taxes. Fawad Chaudhry appealed and was able to take part in parliamentary elections. Chaudhry won the direct mandate and received a seat in parliament. He received a total of 93,102 votes and beat Raja Muhammad Awais Khan, a candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) . He also won a seat in the Punjab provincial government. Fawad Chaudhry received a total of 67,003 votes, defeating Nasir Mehmood, a PNL-N candidate. Fawad Chaudhry admitted on a talk show that he wanted to become Chief Minister . On August 18, 2018, Imran Khan announced his cabinet and appointed Fawad Chaudhry as Minister of Broadcasting and Information. Fawad Chaudhry took his oath of office on August 20, 2018.
