history

The All-India Muslim League was after the independence of Pakistan Muslim League . The first chairman was Pakistan's First Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan . Political differences arose after the fatal assassination attempt on Liaquat Ali Khan, making it difficult for the Muslim League to gain a foothold in the political landscape. This led to elections defeats in East Pakistan . The Pakistan Muslim League could not hold its own against the other parties.

The founding of the PML-N is closely related to the Pakistan Muslim League, which was founded in 1962. The Pakistan Muslim League was the successor party to the Muslim League and was led by Fatima Jinnah , who was politically active and ran against Ayub Khan in the 1965 presidential election. The party was led by Nurul Amin after her death . In the 1970 elections, the PML-N opposed the Pakistan People's Party and the Awami League was able to secure only 2 seats in the parliament of East Pakistan and 10 seats in the national parliament. Nurul Amin won the election and was elected President of Pakistan . His government was deposed after the Bangladesh War . Nawaz Sharif founded the Pakistan Muslim League with the addition (N) to make it clear that it is an independent new party. The PML-N acts politically and program-related independently of the Muslim League .

ideology

Economic policy

The Pakistan Muslim League (N) combines conservatism, neoconservatism , environmental protection and national conservatism . The party believes that a free market and individual success are the key factors for growth. The factors form a strong basis for capitalism . The PMLN has campaigned against unions in the past. The party continues to believe that growing agriculture is the backbone of growth and change. The PMLN drove the privatization of large companies.

Environmental policy

The environmental agency was established by the PMLN during the 1997 government. The Ministry of the Environment was the most respected ministry as it was responsible for protecting the environment and forests in Pakistan. Another measure was to raise public awareness of the issue of environmental protection. However, the focus on environmental policy was sharply criticized by the media, as its expansion was at the expense of health policy. The PML-N-led government in Punjab failed to contain the 2011 dengue outbreak . The reputation of the PML-N also declined because the Ministry of Environment and Health was unable to guarantee a decent supply of medicines.

science

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz carried out the first nuclear weapons tests in Pakistan and developed the Pakistan Antarctic program. The PMLN, together with the PPP, had the Chashma nuclear power plant built and further expanded the nuclear program in Pakistan.
