Adam Fawer (* 1970 in New York City ) is an American economist and writer. With his debut novel Null (original title: Improbable ) he achieved an international bestseller in 2005.

Fawer grew up in New York. During his childhood an eye disease that nearly led to blindness forced him to go to hospital several times. After graduating from school, he took up a degree in economics and statistics from the University of Pennsylvania , which he completed with a master's degree in statistics. For several years he worked on the development of mathematical models. However, boredom took him back to university and he earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from Stanford Business School . Fawer returned to New York and worked for various companies, including Sony Music, JP Morgan and finally as Chief Operating Officer for the Internet platform About.com .

The news of the cancer of a good friend led to a turning point in his life. He remembered the importance books had on him during his childhood. He quit his job and began working on his first novel, Improbable (Eng .: zero ). In October 2003 the renowned publisher HarperCollins acquired the rights to Fawer's manuscript. In July 2007 his second thriller Gnosis was released , which he could easily build on the success of his debut.

Fawer lives in New York with his partner and two sons.
