Fayette Pinkney
Fayette Pinkney (born January 10, 1948 in Philadelphia , † June 27, 2009 in Lansdale (Pennsylvania) ) was an American singer.
Live and act
Pinkney grew up in Philadelphia. In 1965 she was a founding member of the music group The Three Degrees, founded by Richard Barrett, together with Shirley Porter and Linda Turner . Within a decade such big hits as “When Will I See You Again”, “Take Good Care Of Yourself” or “Dirty Old Man” were created, until in 1976 Barrett suggested she resign. In the following time she was active as a singing teacher, choir director and choir singer. In 1979 she recorded her solo album "One Degree".
After her music career, Pinkney earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Temple University in 1984 and a master's degree in human services from Lincoln University, Pennsylvania.
In 1994 she gave birth to a daughter, Ayana Alexandria, who however died of sudden infant death not two weeks later . On June 27, 2009, Pinkney died of acute respiratory failure after a brief and sudden illness at the age of 61.
