Fencing Championships of the German Gymnastics Association 1927

The fencing championships of the German Gymnastics Association in 1927 were held in Leipzig. At the same time, the German Fencing Association held its own championships in Munich (individual) as well as Magdeburg and Frankfurt am Main (team). The fencers took part in the championships of the respective federation in which their clubs or the fencing departments of their clubs were organized. There were only individual competitions for men, there were no women’s competitions.

In foil fencing, Julius Thomson won after a playoff against Wilhelm Löffler . Both achieved ten victories in eleven final rounds. Third was Herbert Hoops (eight wins).

40 fencers started in the epee competition. Herbert Hoops was the winner, ahead of Siegfried Bertold and Julius Thomson . All three were able to achieve eight victories in eleven bouts in the finals. The champion of the championship of the German Gymnastics Association in 1925 , Hermann Schöndube , could not take part because of an illness.

Saber master was Wilhelm Löffler with ten victories in eleven battles in the final round ahead of Herbert Hoops and Paul Postel (eight wins each).
