At the German fencing championships in 1927 , competitions in men's florets, men's epee and men's saber were held. In addition to the foil competition, the women’s last time was in the epee singles until 1987 . Since 1926, women’s competition tournaments have been held occasionally, and some women also fought with the men, as female opponents were relatively rare compared to the women’s florets. After 1927 the number of sword tournaments for women decreased again.
The individual championships took place from May 6th to 8th in Munich , the team championships on August 20th and 21st in Magdeburg . The team championships in the saber were canceled and continued on May 13, 1928 in Frankfurt am Main . The championships were organized by the German Fencing Association . The German Gymnastics Federation organized its own fencing championships in Leipzig.
