At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 , Moos took part in the saber singles as well as with the foil and saber team. The saber team took fourth place behind Hungary, Italy and Poland. In the saber singles he was eliminated in the second of three rounds, the foil team did not get past the first round.
At national level, he won the TuSB anniversary tournament in 1867 Leipzig with the saber in 1932 and the Torgau fencing tournament in 1936 . For the first time in 1920 Moos took part in the finals of a German championship and was eighth with the saber and sixth in epee fencing. In 1924 he was placed in the top three for the first time (3rd in the epee competition). Numerous other podium places followed ( 1926 second with the sword and third with the saber, 1927 third and 1928 second with the sword, 1929 second with the saber). In 1929 Moos became German champion in epee fencing. In 1931 and 1932 he won other championships with the saber, where he fought for the BK Berlin. His club, FC Hermannia Frankfurt, was the most successful fencing club in Germany before the Second World War and won numerous team championship titles in all weapons.
