team

The team championships took place from October 7th to 9th in the tennis halls on Brandenburgische Strasse in Berlin. Teams from the German Fencing Federation and the German Gymnastics Federation took part. The teams consisted of four fencers with one or two substitute fencers. Competitions were held in men's epee, men's saber and men's floret. A planned women's competition had to be canceled because only one team had registered.

In the round system, each team fought against all other teams. A team fight consisted of sixteen individual bouts. Each individual battle was fought on five hits in the foil and saber, and on two hits in the epee. The team with the higher number of wins won the battle. In the event of a tie, the team with fewer hits won; if these were also identical, the team match was counted as a draw. A tie was worth one point, a win two points. The Supreme Arbitration Court consisted of the President of the DFB Heinrich Mayer , the fencing warden of the German Gymnastics Federation Ludwig Staffen , as well as one further representative from each of the two associations.
