Career

Paul Hirschring comes from Hanover. Since he was interested in fencing from a young age, he joined the former DFC Hannover , which later became the fencing department of the Gymnastics Club in Hannover . He fought in both the epee and saber disciplines, both individually, but was mainly successful with the team. His achievements in these two sports soon led him to fight in the first team at national championships for his club. At the German fencing championships in 1930 , the Hanoverian sword team came second and won the silver medal with him. The Hanoverians repeated this success with his participation, but now in team saber fencing in 1937.

The fencing department of the Hanover gymnastics club was the German champion in team fencing several times. As part of the team, Hirschring was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Theodor Heuss in 1956 as the "Eleven German Team Champion" together with Willy Fascher , Klaus Dieter Güse , Richard Liebscher , Heinrich Raupach , Siegfried Rossner and Helmut Wollermann .
