Hans-Georg Jörger

Hans-Georg Jörger (born November 26, 1903 , † after 1941) was a German fencer who was mainly successful with the saber. He fought at FC Hermannia Frankfurt . At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, he won a bronze medal in the saber team competition.

Jörger was seventh at the German championships in foil fencing in 1932 . In 1933 he finished third, in 1934 fourth at the championships with the saber, and in 1937 he finished fourth again with the saber.

In 1934 Jörger took part in an international match in San Remo . Together with Erwin Casmir and August Heim, he fought against Hungary and Italy. Both battles were lost with 2: 7 points. Jörger took part in the 1936 Olympic Games together with Richard Wahl , Julius Eisenecker , Erwin Casmir, August Heim and Hans Esser . After losing to Italy and Hungary in the final round, Germany finished third with a win against Poland. Jörger was used in the quarterfinals against Belgium (he won one battle and lost three), in the semi-finals against Hungary (four losses) and in the final against Hungary (two wins, two losses) and Italy (three losses).

His daughter Hannelore Weichert (born 1942) was a concert pianist and chess player . She won a bronze medal with the German women's team at the 1978 Chess Olympiad in Buenos Aires . Before that, she had already played in the Chess Olympiads in Lublin in 1969 and in Haifa in 1976 . At the Teleschess Olympiad 1977/78 she played for the Federal Republic of Germany ( Robert Huebner on the first board).
