Siegfried Lerdon

Siegfried Lerdon (born August 8, 1905 in Frankfurt am Main ; † October 9, 1964 there ) was a German fencer , multiple German champion and Olympic participant. In 1936 he won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Berlin. His club was the fencing club Hermannia Frankfurt .

In 1935 Lerdon won the bronze medal together with Eugen Geiwitz , Heinz Heigl and Stefan Rosenbauer at the International Championships , the forerunner of the later World Championships . At the Olympic Games a year later, this success could not be repeated: The epee team took fourth place behind Italy, Sweden and France. In the singles Lerdon was eliminated in the semi-finals. He was more successful in the foil competition with August Heim , Julius Eisenecker , Erwin Casmir , Stefan Rosenbauer and Otto Adam . They lost to Italy and France in the final round, but with a victory over Austria they achieved third place and won one of three medals for the German Empire.

In 1938 , 1939 and 1942 Lerdon won the German individual championships in men's epee, in 1941 he took second place. His club, FC Hermannia Frankfurt, won numerous team championships before World War II and was the most successful fencing club in Germany. However, the exact team line-ups of the championship teams are not known.

As a member of FC Hermannia, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf in 1951 .
