Otto Adam (fencer)

Otto Adam (born November 24, 1909 , † December 2, 1977 in Ottweiler ) was a German fencer .

Athletic career

From 1933 Otto Adam fought with foil and saber in all finals of the German fencing championships for over a decade . In 1936 he was part of the foil team at the Olympic Games in Berlin with Erwin Casmir , Julius Eisenecker , August Heim , Siegfried Lerdon and Stefan Rosenbauer , which won the bronze medal for Germany. In 1954 he was again German runner-up with the foil and third in saber fencing. From 1952 to 1974 he was President of the Saarland Fencing Association FBS. In 1957 he was appointed to the office of President of the German Fencing Association , which he held until 1970. In the years he was in office, the German fencers made contact with the world's best. Then he was honorary president of the German Fencing Federation. Adam was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .
