Hårek Elvenes (born June 17, 1959 in Sortland ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative party Høyre . He has been a member of parliament in Storting since 2013 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1981, he attended a Norwegian military school and served as a commander until 1984 . He then worked until 1987 before he began studying economics at Handelshøyskolen BI , which he completed in 1991. Elvenes then worked in various positions, including as controller and management consultant. From 1995 to 2007 he was a member of the local parliament of Bærum .

Elvenes ran in the parliamentary elections in 2005 , 2009 and 2013 in the Akershus constituency without receiving a permanent seat in the Norwegian national parliament in Storting . Instead, he was each Vararepresentant , so a substitute member. As such, he was deployed in October 2005 when the then Minister Jan Petersen had to suspend his mandate before the change of government. After the 2013 election, Elvenes represented his party colleague Jan Tore Sanner , who served as minister, for the entire legislative period .

In the 2017 election , he finally entered parliament for the first time. After the 2013 election, Elvenes became a member of the Judiciary Committee and after the new election he moved to the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense.
