The fencing pass is an identity card issued by the German Fencing Association (DFB), which entitles the holder to participate in fencing tournaments in Germany.

There are no uniform regulations nationwide as to who is allowed to issue the fencing pass, as the DFB has currently delegated the issue to the state professional associations. Some state associations are taking on the exhibition themselves, some have commissioned their clubs to do so.

A fencing pass is valid in the calendar year in which it was issued. At the end of the year, the fencing pass must be extended for another calendar year with an adhesive sticker (fencing pass extension). The fencing pass is no longer valid if the fencer is no longer a member of any fencing club .

Start in tournaments

Every fencing pass holder is entitled to take part in tournaments throughout Germany. If the fencer is under 18 years of age, a " sports medical examination " must also be carried out, which guarantees that the fencer does not have any problems hindering him in fencing. To start at World Cup tournaments and international championships ( Olympic , World and European Championships ), a license from the World Federation FIE is required.
