Federation of European Biochemical Societies

The Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS, Association of European Biochemical Societies) is a European umbrella organization of specialist societies in the field of biochemistry . It includes 36 societies and seven associated associations, which represent a total of around 40,000 members. The German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology , the Austrian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Swiss Society for Biochemistry have been members of the FEBS since it was founded in 1964.

FEBS organizes advanced training courses, exchange programs for scientists and scientific congresses . In particular, it promotes research in Eastern Europe and developing countries through financial support for young scientists during research stays in Western European countries and through a recycling program for laboratory equipment. It also publishes the specialist journals FEBS Journal , FEBS Letters and Molecular Oncology and awards scholarships as well as various awards and prizes.
