Federbach lowland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Federbach lowland is an area in the triangle of the places Rheinstetten ( Mörsch ), Au am Rhein and Durmersheim . Most of the drainage is provided by the Federbach , in the southern part of the landscape the Kunzenbach also contributes to this.

The contours of the forests on the waters allow the former meander of the Rhine to be seen from a bird's eye view . The forests on the Kunzenbach mainly consist of poplar and alder . However, you can find very large walnut trees , especially in the middle of the forest . Oaks and beeches occur sporadically in the Federbach lowlands. Conifers and birches , however, are in vain.

Geographically and geologically

In the narrower sense, the western area of the Kunzenbach loop is usually meant, where there is also a moor . Old Rhine arms used to flow in this area . The ground is somewhat covered with peat .

vegetation

In the past, the area was partially used as a landscape, but today the area is a nature reserve and there are only a few fields left in the east . There are reeds and willow bushes . The Kunzenwald , a large part of which consists of poplars , extends along the Kunzenbach .
