Federico Zeballos (born May 30, 1988 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra ) is a Bolivian tennis player .

Career

Zeballos started playing tennis tournaments regularly in 2009. He won four doubles titles that year on the third-rate ITF Future Tour . Until 2013 he won another title at this level each year, but did not make the jump to the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour . After moving into the top 1000 of the 2010 tennis world rankings in singles and reaching the top 550 in doubles, Zeballos played in Segovia for the first time with a challenger in 2011 . After that, it took some time before he was able to take part in such a tournament again. In singles he won his first future titles in 2012 and 2016, but has not yet been able to consolidate his position in the top 500 in the world. After three titles in 2018, Zeballos was able to reach his career high in October 2018 with 440th place. His ranking is usually between 500 and 600th place. However, he steadily improved his position in doubles. After three titles in 2014 and 2015, he won four futures in 2016 and six in 2017. He subsequently rose in the world rankings and played other Challengers in 2017. In Guayaquil he was with his compatriot Hugo Dellien in his first final, which they lost. He finished the year the highest to date with 238th place.

The year 2018 was his most successful to date. Again he won three futures. In addition, he made it into a Challenger semi-finals seven times with changing partners. Once, in San Benedetto , he was only defeated in the final. In December it rose to number 175, its career high. In 2019 he made it to the final for the third time in Buenos Aires , but did not win the title again. Overall, the year in which he won four futures (31 double titles in total) was a little less successful than the previous year - he fell out of the top 200.

Federico Zeballos has been playing for the Bolivian Davis Cup team since 2010 . He played there in most matches (27) and together with Hugo Dellien for most of the years (11; in a row). His balance is 25: 9. He participated in the first entry into the world group in 2020 by defeating the Dominican Republic.

Personal

His sister Noelia Zeballos is also a professional tennis player. He played with her at the 2019 Pan American Games in mixed doubles , where they won silver.
