The spring maker makes springs from steel or other metals that are needed in technical devices (machines, tools, vehicles, watches, etc.).

In the past, springs were made by hand, for example in the watch industry. Today the spring maker operates machines that produce the springs in various operations - punching , bending , rolling, rolling . The pen maker sets up the machines according to work documents and operation plans, monitors the manufacturing process and checks the end products. He manufactures one-piece and composite springs.

The professional prerequisites in Germany are a secondary school diploma , technical interest and manual skills. The training regulations were repealed on July 31, 2013 and replaced by the successor profession of specialist in metal technology.

A pen maker can train to become an industrial foreman, a master mechanic or attend a technical college .
