Field jacket

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A field jacket is an item of clothing in the soldier's uniform and part of the field suit . The garment is usually made of a robust fabric such as moleskin in the olive-green Bundeswehr field jacket, so that it can cope with the tough demands of wind and weather.

The waist-length jacket of the US armed forces has been worn both by the military and as a leisure jacket since 1965.

Field jackets come in all kinds of designs, olive green , khaki or camouflage print (desert, forest, snow). Many pockets are typical of field jackets.

Examples:

  • In the Bundeswehr , the lined, olive-green parka (designation: jacket, field, olive, lined with hood) was replaced by the unlined "field jacket, camouflage print " with a separate lining jacket ("undercoat cold protection") in the 1990s with the introduction of clothing system 90 made of a synthetic cotton blend.
  • Manufacturer of Field jacket M-65 ( US forces ) include Alpha Industries , Brandit, Propper etc. It was from the fictional character Horst Schimanski in television and feature films without epaulets worn.

Fashion

Field jackets have also found their way into everyday clothing and clothing fashion . In some cases, designers are inspired by field jackets in their designs, so that jackets are offered in retail outlets that are aesthetically similar to field jackets, sometimes printed or embroidered with striking lettering or graphics, sometimes even with rhinestones.
