Felix Imre

Felix Imre (born on November 19, 1917 in Pottenstein ; died on November 2, 1943 in Vienna ) was an Austrian tailor's assistant and resistance fighter against the Nazi regime . He was sentenced to death by the Nazi judiciary and executed in the Vienna Regional Court .

life and work

Before 1938 Imre belonged to the NSDAP and SA . He took part as a soldier in the Second World War and was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class in the western campaign . In 1941 he joined - together with Elfriede Hartmann , Friedrich Mastny , Franz Reingruber a . a. - the KJVÖ group of the soldiers' council and produced illegal newspapers, leaflets and communist leaflets on a self-made puller. He also took part in letter campaigns for soldiers from the front. He was arrested on April 13, 1942 and severely tortured by the Gestapo . On September 24, 1943, Imre was sentenced to death by the People's Court for “preparing to commit high treason ” and “ favoring the enemy ” .

The execution by guillotine took place five weeks after the hearing.

Commemoration

Imre's name can be found on the plaque in the former execution room of the Vienna Regional Court . He is buried in the shaft graves of group 40 (row 26 / grave 190) of the Vienna Central Cemetery . In the Josef-Stockinger-Park in Pottenstein a memorial stone has been commemorating him since October 1988.
