Felix Japha

Felix Japha (* 1875 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † 1942 ibid.) Was a Jewish merchant and promoter of Königsberg.

Life

After graduating from the Königsberg Wilhelms-Gymnasium and a commercial apprenticeship with Bernhard Wiehler, he went to London and Paris for further training . In 1902 he and Paul Hüter acquired L. Gamm's soap factory on Steindamm, which he had founded in 1812 and which he owned and expanded until 1933.

He was Swiss honorary consul (1907–1920) and city councilor. As a donor, he participated in the founding of the town hall and the new theater , on whose supervisory board he served until 1933.

In 1933 he was able to stay in his villa in Amalienau .

In 1942, Japha and his wife committed suicide.
