Felix Matuszkiewicz (born January 11, 1885 in Sprottau , † April 18, 1956 in Neustadt an der Donau ) was a German historian and legal scholar, founder of the Municipal Museum in Sprottau.

His parents were Josef Matuszkiewicz and Margaret geb. Kopankiewicz. After graduating from high school in 1903, he studied law at the universities of Heidelberg , Leipzig , Greifswald and Breslau . He obtained his doctorate in Breslau in 1910. In 1908, as a trainee lawyer at the Royal District Court of Sprottau, he self-published the book “Geschichte der Stadt Sprottau”. The work was created on the basis of research in the city archive. From 1912 he worked as a lawyer and notary in Sprottau. At the same time he dealt with the history of the Sprottauer Kreis and edited several books.

On June 28, 1928, two museums were opened in Sprottau: the Sprottau Local History Museum and the Heinrich Laube Museum , which were created thanks to the initiative of Matuszkiewicz.

In spring 1945 Matuszkiewicz had to leave Sprottau and settled in Passau . There he was hired by the American authorities as a judge. However, he tried to return to the profession of lawyer. He retired in 1955 and died a year later.

The Sprottau Municipal Museum, which reopened on June 18, 2004, bears his name.
