Felix Pastorius

Felix Xavier Pastorius (born June 9, 1982 ) is an American fusion musician ( electric bass ).

Life

Pastorius, son of Jaco Pastorius , first took violin and piano lessons before switching to bass at the age of 10. His main influences were Flea , Les Claypool , Victor Wooten , Oteil Burbridge and John Patitucci . At the age of 16 he became a member of the trio of the Weather Report percussionist Robert Thomas Jr. , with whom he played on the Florida scene. From 2002 he belonged to Jeff Coffins Mu'tet , with whom he recorded three albums.

From 2010 he also worked with Cindy Blackman and toured with her band Another Lifetime . In 2010 he toured Germany with his twin brother Julius with Ralph Herrnkind's band. In 2011 he became the bass player for the Yellowjackets , with whom he stayed until 2015. With his twin brother Julius Pastorius he also played in Robert Thomas Jr.'s band 7th World .
