style

The lyrics of the concept album deal with the opposing planets Felona and Sorona, which are completely shrouded in light or darkness, and their inhabitants. Le Orme play cautious but atmospheric and symphonic progressive rock with influences from Italopop and folk on Felona e Sorona . Synthesizer, mellotron, piano and organ are in the foreground. Occasionally, acoustic guitars are used, but not electric guitars. Complex, dramatic and calm passages alternate. The vocals are harmonious, Robert Taylor from Allmusic compares Tagliapietra's voice with that of Sting .

reception

Felona e Sorona is considered the most important work of the band and a classic of Italian progressive rock.

“As it should be for a concept album, the titles merge seamlessly and the first listening session gives the impression that this is an atmospherically dense work with one pearl after the other. Le Orme has succeeded in combining symphonic elegance, Mediterranean ease and complex bombast. You can switch between different moods with a dreamlike security. "
