The Släbro rock carvings are Bronze Age rock carvings and are located northwest of Nyköping in Södermanland County in Sweden .

description

The rock carvings are located between the southern bank of the Nyköpingsån and the Oppeby School (Nyköping). They were discovered in 1984 by Sven-Gunnar Broström and Kenneth Ihrestam.

In 1985 an archaeological survey was carried out. Remnants of coal and bones, pottery shards, flint and stone tools from the Bronze Age were found . During this time, today's outcrops 1–6 were above the mouth of the Nyköpingsån, right by the sea. There was probably a cult and trading place here.

434 figures and 255 bowls ( Swedish älvkvarnar - elf mills) and ten other figures were found. There are around 700 objects in total. The so-called Släbrofiguren are a uniform type of figure whose abstract motifs are difficult to interpret. Motifs that can be found on rock carvings in southern Sweden, such as people, pictures of ships, soles and animals, are missing from the Släbro carvings. A form of representation can be compared to an adoring human figure, whose round body is decorated with lines and dots.

300 meters to the west are the rune stone of Släbro and the rune stone Sö 45 .
