The Femtec.Alumnae eV is an association of and for women in the STEM area ( mathematics , computer science , natural sciences and technology ) are working. Femtec.Alumnae eV represents scientists, engineers and experts from the technical field and gives them a platform for further exchange and mutual representation of interests. He is committed to an equal work culture.

history

Femtec.Alumnae eV was founded on August 30, 2008. In April 2020, the alumni association consisted of over 675 active members. Anyone who has completed the 1.5-year Femtec.Careerbuilding program or has an equivalent qualification and supports the goals of the association can become a member of the association.

The mentoring program of Femtec.Alumnae eV was launched together with Zonta International .

Femtec.Alumnae eV has set itself the goal of offering women in MINT professions a network for their career path and personal exchange, opportunities for further training and contacts. The members of the association see themselves as ambassadors for technology and natural sciences and are committed to a. to ensure that more young women are enthusiastic about a technical and scientific degree. The association wants to contribute to increasing the career opportunities of women - especially in the technical and scientific professions. He advocates a better work-life balance for women and men.

Board

Election of the board

The board of the association consists of four equal members. The election of the board takes place at the general meeting. Every year, to ensure continuity, two board members are elected by the general assembly according to a rolling system for a period of two years.

Every year the board chooses an annual motto which defines the focus of the association's work for the year.

Regional groups

At the local level, the association is organized in regional groups. Regular get-togethers, jointly attended lectures or specially organized sports events promote on-site exchange between active Femtec students and alumnae. There are regional groups in Aachen, Berlin, Dresden, International, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hamburg, Munich, Rhein-Main-Neckar, Stuttgart, Zurich.

Working groups

In the working groups, the offers for members are developed and implemented, the basis for the exchange of common interests is laid and the strategy and communication of the association are further developed.

Girls does STEM

Girls makes MINT was launched by Femtec.Alumnae eV in 2010 and has grown steadily since then. The association started with the project in Stuttgart and has meanwhile been expanded to Berlin, Darmstadt and Munich. In the meantime, as of May 2015, over 150 schoolgirls have attended the experiment mornings. The students expect three different stations to "lend a hand" independently. While playing and brooding, the pupils should discover for themselves whether they enjoy tinkering with STEM issues. Spiegel Online has already reported on one of the events.

Girls makes MINT was awarded at the company competition in Baden-Württemberg.

Femtec.GmbH

Femtec.GmbH, founded in 2001 by the European Academy for Women in Politics and Business and the Technical University of Berlin , together with its partners, forms a unique network for the promotion of women in engineering and natural sciences. The core component here is Femtec's careerbuilding program.

In the Femtec.Network, leading universities and top international companies cooperate in order to prepare women specifically for professional practice and for future management tasks. They continuously support women during their studies, when they start their careers and on their further career path. In addition to the careerbuilding program, Femtec.GmbH remains a career platform with various offers for its alumnae.

Felicitas Prize

Femtec.Alumnae eV has been awarding the Felicitas Prize since 2018; nominations can be made by the jury, sponsors and association members. The aim of the award is to make the advancement of women in MINT professions visible. It is awarded in the four categories of Role Model MINT & Science, Role Model Leadership, Empowering Person and Empowering Organization. According to Rosa Meckseper, board member of Femtec.Alumnae eV, "the Felicitas Prize [...] is not only intended to honor the award winners, but also to make girls and young women aware that women and technology go well together."

The name giver of the award, Felicitas, stands in Latin for luck and success - and is intended to be a symbol of the energy of modern women who succeed with complex projects and promote our society in many areas with their implementation skills. In doing so, they inspire and empower future generations. Above all through outstanding projects that cause a long-term rethinking of women and their roles in our society.

Engagement award

Every year, with the support of a partner company of the Femtec network, Femtec.GmbH awards a prize for special commitment to “women's careers in MINT areas”. The award winners can be all Femtec scholarship holders, Femtec alumnae and other personalities who are above average committed to the goals of the Femtec network. The prize is awarded during the summer festival of the Femtec network. Since 2018 the prize has been called the Felicitas Engagement Prize and is awarded directly by Femtec.Alumnae eV.
