Fendry Ekel (* 1971 in Jakarta , Indonesia ) is a Dutch painter . Ekel lives in Yogyakarta , Indonesia.
Life
Ekel came to the Netherlands from Indonesia as a teenager in the early 1980s. He studied in Amsterdam at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and from 1998 to 2000 at the "Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten" in Amsterdam. In 1999 he was artist in residence in Cittadellarte, Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella .

Ekel prefers mixed techniques such as gouache , acrylic and oil paint in his brightly colored pictures . His often monumental works are based on black and white photographs of architecture or historical events. Keel's paintings have been exhibited at galleries in the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Spain, Mexico, Australia, and the United States.
