The Ferdinand-Keller-Brunnen is a fountain in the Bruchsal city ​​garden in the immediate vicinity of the Schönborn high school and the Belvedere . It was created in 1912.

History and description

The fountain is made of sandstone ; a round smaller fountain bowl stands within a flat larger one. Four gargoyles in the shape of two-tailed mythical creatures are located at the foot of the fountain column above the inner basin. On the variously decorated fountain column stands the metal figure of a heron, cleaning its plumage. At the entrance to the fountain there are two sculptures on pedestals; the left shows a putto riding a ram, the right a putto riding a wild boar.

The fountain was created by August Meyerhuber . It was restored in 2008 and 2009.

The Ferdinand Keller fountain was built in memory of Ferdinand Keller, who reintroduced the Bruchsal summer day train in 1902. Ferdinand Keller was the host of the Bruchsal train station restaurant, the driving force behind the establishment of the Great Carnival Society in 1898 and the first president of the Summer Day Train Committee. He lived from 1836 to 1906. The summer's procession is an event for the Bruchsal children who, on this day, march through the city in a pageant together with the drummers and piper guards, the Klepperles guards, music bands, butzmen and decorated floats and drive out the winter that is in Figure of a snowman figure is burned.
