Ferdinand Berger

Ferdinand Berger (born May 30, 1851 in Trog, municipality of Viertelfeistritz (today: municipality of Anger , Styria); † January 22, 1925 there ) was an Austrian farmer and politician ( Christian Social Party ). He was a member of the Austrian House of Representatives , member of the Styrian State Parliament , member of the Provisional National Assembly and Mayor of Viertelfeistritz.

Life

Berger was born in 1851 as the son of the farmer and carpenter Peter Berger, although his father died in 1862. He attended elementary school in Anger and in 1867 took over the Trogferdl farm in trog, which he subsequently managed as a farmer. Berger was involved in the community committee of Viertelfeistritz and between 1875 and 1901 held the office of mayor in his home community. He was also a member of the district council of the Birkfeld district and was the district school councilor of Birkfeld. Between 1899 and 1908 he was a member of the committee of the Catholic-Conservative Farmers' Association for Central and Upper Styria, and in 1901 he became a member of the Board of Directors of the Farmers' Association Fund of the Catholic-Conservative Farmers' Association for Central and Upper Styria in Graz. Berger was a member of the Styrian Landtag from 1897 to 1918 and ran for the Christian Social Party in the 1907 Reichsrat election in the Styrian constituency , whereby he was able to prevail clearly against his opponents in the first ballot. As a result, he was elected member of the House of Representatives of the Reichsrat from June 17, 1907 and was able to successfully defend his mandate in the 1911 Reichsrat election. Berger was a member of the House of Representatives until its end on November 12, 1918 and was a member of the Provisional National Assembly as a member of a German Reichsrat electoral district from October 21, 1918 to February 16, 1919.

Berger married Johanna Derler in 1884, who bore him seven sons and eight daughters. Of his 15 children, however, eight died at a young age.
