Ferenc Szusza [ ˈfɛrɛnts ˈsusɒ ] (born December 1, 1923 in Budapest , † August 1, 2006 or August 2, 2006 there ) was a Hungarian football player .

Career

Szusza played from 1941 to 1960 for the first division club Újpest Budapest , which he never left during his active football career. With Újpest he was Hungarian champion four times. He also played 24 times for the Hungarian national football team .

At the time of his death, Szusza led the list of the best Hungarian top scorers in the top division. He ranks 12th on the list of top scorers of all players in the top division. According to IFFHS statistics, Szusza also scored the most league goals in football history in the same team.

The stadium of Újpest FC, the former Megyeri úti Stadium , was named Szusza Ferenc Stadium after him in 2003 .
