Fernand Rigaux

Fernand Rigaux (* 1905 ; † December 21, 1962 ) was a Belgian astronomer .

He did research at the Royal Observatory of Belgium in Uccle . Together with his colleague Sylvain Julien Victor Arend , he succeeded in discovering comet 49P / Arend-Rigaux in 1951 . In addition, he discovered eight asteroids .

On December 25, 2012, at the suggestion of the Dutch astronomer Willem Fröger, an asteroid discovered by Rigaux in 1933 was named after him: (19911) Rigaux .
