Fernand Schuman

Fernand Schuman (born June 19, 1845 in Ewringen , Lorraine ; † December 27, 1925 there ) was a landowner and a member of the second chamber of the regional parliament of Alsace-Lorraine for the Lothringer block.

His nephew, Robert Schuman (1886–1963), son of his brother Jean-Pierre Schuman (1837–1900), became French Prime Minister and is considered one of the founding fathers of the European Community .

Fernand Schuman, who was a Catholic denomination, attended the Collège von Sierck and the agricultural school. He lived as a landowner in Ewringen. Politically, he was active as a member of the district assembly and the state committee.

In the first (and only) election to the state parliament, he ran in the constituency of Kattenhofen-Sierck-Metzerwiese as a candidate for the Lothringer Bloc. In the first ballot, 5,671 votes were cast in the constituency of the 7,143 eligible voters. Schuman received 3,326 votes , the independent candidate Leitienne 1,902 and the Social Democrat Biermann 355 votes. Fernand Schuman was a member of the state parliament until 1918.
