Fernando Bayardo Bengoa

Fernando Bayardo Bengoa (* 1923 , † 31 October 1987 ) was a Uruguayan politician and university teacher.

Life

Fernando Bayardo Bengoa, who holds a doctorate, was Attorney General of Uruguay ("Procurador General de la Nación"). In 1960 he was first appointed "Profesor Agregado" at the Universidad de la República and two years later took over a position as a university professor. In 1979 he founded the Instituto Uruguayo de Derecho Penal (Uruguayan Institute for Criminal Law), of which he was director until 1984. In that year he also resigned as a professor in the law faculty. Bayardo Bengoa received an honorary doctorate from the Universidad de Buenos Aires . In the course of his scientific career he published extensively. These include the 11-volume Derecho Penal Uruguayo (Uruguayan criminal law) published between 1962 and 1978 .

Bayardo Bengoa was under President Aparicio Méndez during the civil-military dictatorship in Uruguay from January 27, 1977 to August 31, according to other sources until September 1, 1981, Minister of Justice in the newly created Ministry of Justice.
