Fernando Cabrera (born December 8, 1956 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan guitarist , singer and composer of Uruguayan popular music.

Cabrera was born in the Paso Molino neighborhood of Montevideo . His musical education began at the age of six with learning to play the guitar with Porrati de Marín. In 1977 he first appeared as a member of the Montresvideo group . He later joined Baldío . With both groups he released an album each. Most of the songs included came from his pen. He began his solo career in 1984 with the Ayuí / Tacuabé album El viento en la cara . 15 other musical works followed, five of which were released by various labels and six by Ayuí / Tacuabé . In 1992, 56 canciones y un dialógo, a book with his self-written lyrics and other poems appeared. The El Dirigible , published in 1994, was the music for the film of the same name. This was honored as best music at the Cartagena Festival the following year. Cabrera has also made an appearance as a theater composer.
