Eduardo Darnauchans Miralles (born November 15, 1953 in Montevideo , Uruguay ; † March 5 or March 7, 2007 there ) was a Uruguayan musician and songwriter.

Life

Darnauchans, called el Darno , spent the first 17 years of his life in Tacuarembó and in the Riverian Minas de Corrales . Darnauchans belonged to the so-called Grupo de Tacuarembó , whose members included artists such as Washington Benavides , Carlos Benavídes , Numa Moraes , Circe Maia , Víctor Cunha and Eduardo Larbanois . After he gave his first concert in 1971 under the name Concierto de la rosa II in the former Stella D'Italia theater in Montevideo, his first record, Canción de muchacho, was released in 1972. As a result, he took on more and performed at numerous concerts and union events. He also took part in shows in Montevideo, including Paul Simon and Bob Dylan . During the civil-military dictatorship in Uruguay, he suffered disadvantages due to his proximity to the Communist Party . Striking key dates of his career were, for example, his much-acclaimed record Sansueña , released in 1977, and the two concerts in the Teatro del Notariado in 1984 and 1989 . Furthermore, his live recording of his first solo concert at the Teatro Solís , published in 1991 under the title Noches Blancas . In 1990 and 1994 he appeared on the side of Fernando Cabrera at the Teatro Solís. The two concerts were named Ambitos and Ambitos II .

Towards the end of his life he had to struggle with severe health problems after a hip operation in 2006 and especially after the death of his wife Patricia, who had died two weeks earlier, in February 2007, and he fell victim to alcoholism.

Darnauchans was buried in the Montevideo Central Cemetery.
