Fernando Gómez Colomer , called Fernando , (born September 11, 1965 in Valencia ) is a former Spanish football player .

Career

societies

Fernando played for Valencia CF in his youth and was to spend most of his career there. In January 1984 he made his debut on the professional team. After relegation in the 1985/86 season , Fernando was under coach Alfredo Di Stéfano the linchpin of the Valencia game. As a result of the direct resurgence, the Spaniard also developed into a real playmaker with scoring qualities in the Primera División . Then Valencia were twice runners-up and took part in the UEFA Cup five times . In 1989 Fernando won the Don Balón Award as Spain's Footballer of the Year. In 1995 he reached with FC Valencia the final of the Copa del Rey .

1998 Fernando left the club and moved to England for a year with the Wolverhampton Wanderers . He ended his career in 2000 with CD Castellón .

National team

Fernando went through the junior national teams of Spain. He took part in the junior soccer world championship in 1985 and was runner-up. In 1989 he made his debut in the senior national team. In 1990 he was part of the squad that played the 1990 World Cup in Italy .
