The Fernbridge is a road bridge in California , United States that runs State Route 211 over the Eel River . It is the last bridge before it flows into the Pacific Ocean, around 10 km away, and lies between the towns of Loleta and Ferndale . The US Highway 101 passes close to her over.

The two-lane, a total of 442.3 m (1451 ft ) long reinforced concrete bridge crosses the river with seven 54.9 m (180 ft) wide, flat segment arches , which are supported by 4.6 m thick piers. Originally, the bridge was connected by 160 m and 130 m long wooden ramp bridges with the road running along the north bank and with the road embankment south of it. These wooden bridges were replaced by reinforced concrete bridges in 1920, at the same time the gravel road was paved.

The bridge, built in 1910 and 1911, was the longest reinforced concrete road bridge in the world when it was completed and has withstood all major floods since it was built with almost no damage.

In 1987, she in the National Register of Historic Places added and in 1996 by the American Society of Civil Engineers for the California State Civil Engineering Landmark appointed.

The United States Geological Survey has maintained a webcam and gauge on Fernbridge for some time.
