The Fesch Monument ( French Monument au cardinal Fesch ) is a monument to the French Cardinal Joseph Fesch in Ajaccio , the capital of the island of Corsica .

location

The monument is located in downtown Ajaccio, north of the old town in the forecourt of Palais Fesch . The Rue Cardinal Fesch runs to the west .

Design and history

The bronze statue depicting Cardinal Fesch was created in 1855 by the sculptor Vital Dubray in the Eck et Durand foundry and erected in 1856. The statue stands on a stone base. On the front of the base there is an inscription in a coat of arms with information on Cardinal Fesch's life data:

On May 2, 1984, the monument was classified as a movable monument historique together with objects from the Palais Fesch . It was registered under number PA2A000018 on June 22, 2017.
