The Boolarravirus ( BoV ) is a species of virus from the family Nodaviridae , genus Alphanodavirus . It is named after the place Boolarra , Victoria , where it was first discovered in the larvae of the endemic moth Oncopera intricoides (rootworm, scientific Hepialidae ). So far, O. intricoides is the only known host . After infection, it creates deformities in the larvae and can also lead to death.

structure

The Boolarra virus has a diameter of about 30 nanometers and an RNA content of about 21%. It is most closely related to the nodamuravirus .
