The festival contre le racisme is a campaign against racism , xenophobia and xenophobia that has been carried out annually at German universities since 2003 .

In 1995 the French student association UNEF organized the festival contre le racisme for the first time in order to fight against racism and xenophobia. In Germany, the free association of student bodies (FCS) began in 2003 for the first time to organize a decentralized festival contre le racisme, which was to consist of many on-site events. Since 2005 the festival contre le racisme has been organized together with the Federal Association of Foreign Students (BAS).

The fzs and the BAS run the festival contre le racisme as a decentralized nationwide campaign with a call and a uniform motto. Events, concerts and campaigns as well as protests take place at various universities. On site, the events are mostly carried out by the ASten and NGOs . fzs and BAS organize regular preparatory meetings and provide speakers and materials. In terms of content, the events deal with topics such as racism, xenophobia, right-wing extremism , anti-Semitism , discrimination , student connections, Islamism , internationalization of studies and universities, refugee policy or the legal and social situation of foreign students in Germany . The types of events are very different. In addition to panel discussions and lectures, exhibitions, film and cultural events such as readings or concerts or festivals and evenings are offered. In the first few years the student representatives were the main organizers, but in 2007 and 2008 organizations outside the universities also increasingly participated.

Events

In 2009, under the motto 60 years old and not a bit way from 8 to 14 June, the Basic Law and its implementation in the field of migration, racism and xenophobia in the center of the festival contre le racisme, as well as the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of United Nations .

In 2008, under the motto Tear down all borders! held over 100 events at the following locations / universities from June 2nd to 6th, 2008: Aachen, Bamberg, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Hanover, Kiel, Cologne, Leipzig, Mainz, Münster, Potsdam, and Siegen. In addition to the ASten, there were also advisory councils for foreigners , academic immigration offices, migrant organizations, church university communities and integration officers. The events ranged from discussions with representatives of political parties and associations, exhibitions and lectures to readings, intercultural children's parties and concerts.

In 2007 the motto of the festival contre le racisme Mobility is a right! . It took place with over 50 events in the following locations: Aachen, Bielefeld, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Freiberg, Göttingen, Cologne, Mainz, Potsdam, and Siegen.

In 2006 the festival contre le racisme took place from May 29th to June 4th in 16 locations under the motto Science needs an open society that is free from racism and the ideas of the extreme right!

From May 23 to 29, 2005, the festival contre le racisme under the motto The internationalization of universities began with a central event in Berlin , in which representatives of the BMBF , DSW , DAAD , fzs and BAS took part. There were around 70 events at 13 university locations.

Organizers and participating organizations

In addition to the fzs, the BAS and the student bodies ( AStA and StuRa ), associations of foreign students, migrant organizations, university units and foreigners councils, as well as university communities are involved.
