Fetschin Colyn (Fetschin = Bonifatius; * in the 15th century; † June 18, 1472 in Aachen ) was lay judge and mayor of the imperial city of Aachen .

Live and act

The son of the aldermen Johann Colyn and grandson of the former mayor Jakob Colyn van Herle am Markt , like most members of his family, also belonged to the aldermen and was elected to the council of Aachen in 1437. A year later he took over the job as the leaseholder of the town's beer sales . According to the sources given by Marie-Luise Freiin von Coels von der Brügghen, he was mayor in 1445, 1450 and 1459 . However, other sources for the politically explosive year 1450 in Aachen list Gerhard von Haren, the younger, a second mayor from among the aldermen's college.

Fetschin Colyn was first married to Else von Segraede, the daughter of the former mayor Statz von Segraedt . After her untimely death on May 5, 1438, Colyn married Mechtildis von der Hagen, the daughter of the former mayor Johann von der Hagen . With this he had at least three children, including the future mayors Fetschin and Wilhelm Colyn and the daughter Sophia, who married the mayor Johann Ellerborn .
