The fire brigade Eberswalde is the fire protection organization of the Brandenburg city of Eberswalde and as such belongs to the public order office . It consists of a professional fire brigade and six volunteer fire brigades .

history

The first volunteer fire brigade in Eberswalde was founded on February 1, 1875 after various predecessor organizations and continued until the end of the Second World War. In 1945 the Russian occupiers founded a professional fire brigade, which was largely made up of staff from the former volunteer fire brigade. In the post-war period, it ensured fire protection in the city itself and within a radius of up to 40 km. With the confirmation of the fire brigade statute of the Soviets in 1949 by the German President of the Interior, the former municipal fire brigade and its equipment were added to the state as public property and subordinated to the district police authority. Not until October 24, 1990, after the reunification of Germany, was the fire brigade taken over by the municipality again. It then existed until 1999 as a volunteer fire brigade with full-time workers. Since January 1, 2000, Eberswalde has had a professional fire brigade again.

Professional fire brigade

In addition to the administrative department, the professional fire brigade consists of 33 active officers in the fire service. Ten of them each form one of the three guard departments that keep the main fire station manned around the clock. In addition, there are two officers in the senior and one officer in the higher fire service as the head of the fire department. The professional fire brigade occupies the first fire engine in the city, consisting of an emergency fire fighting group vehicle , a turntable ladder with basket 23/12, a tank fire engine 20/40 and a command vehicle . There is also a command vehicle and the vehicle from the A service as well as a GW logistics unit at the station. The professional fire brigade is housed together with the Finow voluntary fire brigade in the most modern fire station in the former GDR, which was inaugurated in 1994.
