Fire Brigade Register
Fire brigade registers are directories in Austria in which all fire brigades must be entered if they are active in public fire protection . In Upper Austria it is referred to as the fire department book .
Since fire-fighting in Austria is a matter for the federal states , these lists are kept in the individual federal states.
Since the fire brigades were associations until the 1970s, they were listed in the association register at that time . Since the conversion into corporations under public law , they have been managed separately. Not only the volunteer fire brigades , which are the mainstay of fire protection, and the six professional fire brigades are entered in the fire brigade register, the company fire brigades are also entered if their area of activity is outside the company's own company.
Usually, in addition to the exact fire brigade designation, the location as well as the names of the commanders and their deputies can be seen in the fire brigade register. The exact entries can of course vary depending on the respective fire brigade laws.
In Lower Austria, it was created in accordance with the NÖFFG LGBl. 366/1969 as a non-public register. The right of inspection is limited to the state fire brigade association , the state fire brigade school and the state accounting department.
