Feuilleton (waltz)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Feuilleton is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 293). The work was first performed on January 24, 1865 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The waltz was written in Mardi Gras in 1865 for the Concordia writers and journalists' ball . That also explains the title name. The waltz is not one of the composer's great masterpieces. Occasionally, however, it is still performed today. Antal Doráti (1906-1988) has included the waltz in his ballet Graduation Ball (1939-40), which is composed of Johann Strauss's works. Thus the feature waltz lives on in this work as well. In addition, Adolf Müller used parts of this work in the operetta Wiener Blut , which he compiled based on motifs by Johann Strauss (son) .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 11 minutes and 9 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
