location

The Feyermühle is located in the east of the city of Mechernich, about 380 m east of the four-way settlement on the east side of the Veybach . The mill was operated through a branch of this stream, the Mühlengraben .

history

After the Rather mill , located between Strempt and Roggendorf , had been converted into a stamping mill , the Feyermühle was built by the owner of half the imperial rule of Mechernich, the Baron von Twickel , in 1756/57. This gave the mill half of the village of Mechernich in Mühlenzwang . Around 1850 the mill was stopped and the building became the home of the forester Hubert Schick from the Mechernicher Bergwerks-Actien-Verein. After that, a farm used the mill. Today it is part of a newly built fish farm further downstream. Today the structure is still in its original state, but without the water wheel.
