Filadelfo Mugnos
Filadelfo Mugnos (* 1607 in Lentini ; † May 28, 1675 in Palermo ) was an Italian poet and writer.
Mugnos was born in Sicily , where he lived and also died in Palermo. He studied law at the University of Catania and was a member of the Order of Christ and several academies of the time.
Filadelfo Mugnos wrote numerous historical works. His main work is the Teatro Genologico delle Famiglie nobili e titolate , in which the history of the Sicilian families is reported. It appeared in Palermo from 1647 and for many centuries was an equivalent to Burke's peerage on the Sicilian nobility. The reliability of his information has already been called into question in Jöchers Schehrten -Lexikon . This judgment was tightened in the Siciliani illustri of 1939.
