The Egidi branch church is located in the Egidi cadastral community in the Murau municipality in the Murau district in Styria . The Roman Catholic branch church of the parish church of Murau , consecrated to St. Aegidius , belongs to the Murau deanery in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church with the cemetery and the war memorial are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The church was mentioned in a document in 1335.

The Romanesque church around 1200 and early Gothic around 1300 is a three-nave church from the first construction period.

architecture

The church is partly surrounded by a walled cemetery.

Church exterior

The three-aisled church building with a high central nave and lower side aisles under a common saddle roof has a slightly indented and two steps higher choir square with a crypt under the choir square.

Church interior

The central nave has a flat wooden beam ceiling with rich stencil painting around 1500.

Furnishing

The high altar was created in 1774 by Matthäus Krenauer. It was restored in 1900. The side altar St. Anna created Franz Rieger in 1766.

The organ was created by Friedrich Wagner in 1855.
